Adam Jerome Billnoske, 90, passed away on February 13, 2012, at his home in New Waverly, Texas. He was born in Willis, Texas on December 12, 1921, to John and Mary Billnoske. He grew up working with his family on their farm raising cotton, corn, and animals. On August 31, 1942, he enlisted in the United States Army. During World War II, he served as an automotive mechanic and driver for the 494th Medical Collecting Company. He received four bronze stars for having fought in four World War II battles: Normandy, Rhineland, Eastern Europe, and Southern France. He also received the American Theater Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal (EAME), Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. He was honorably discharged on December 15, 1945, after serving for 39 months. In 1946 he married the love of his life Sadie Mae Malak. Soon afterwards he opened a mechanic shop and Shell gas station in New Waverly. Twenty years later, he sold the gas station and became a bus driver and mechanic for New Waverly ISD. He also did custom hay baling and raised cattle, as well as invested and built various rental properties in New Waverly. His favorite thing to do was to buy and refurbish tractors. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife of 51 years, sisters Lucille Slott, Kathryn Billnoske, Vicky Holland, Mary Venarske, Rosie Kuzniarek, Thecla Olbrych and Josie Courtney; brothers Felix, Louis and Mike Billnoske. He is survived by his daughter, Mary Ann Slott, sons, Joe Billnoske and wife Elizabeth and Steven Billnoske and wife Donna, all of New Waverly; grandsons, Michael Slott of New Waverly, Keith Billnoske of Fort Worth, Christopher Billnoske of Willis, Curtis Billnoske and wife Karen of Houston; granddaughters, Amy Wood and husband Chad of New Waverly, Kerri Billnoske of Houston, Nicole, Megan, and Ashley Billnoske all of New Waverly; and great-granddaughter Madison Wood of New Waverly. Pallbearers will be Michael Slott, Keith, Chris and Curtis Billnoske, Steve Drake and Gerald Kuzniarek. Visitation will be held at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Huntsville, Texas on Thursday, February 16th, from 5 to 7 p.m. A Christian wake service will be at 7:00 p.m. A Rosary will follow shortly after the wake service. Funeral service will be at 11:00, Friday, February 17th, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in New Waverly with Rev. Daokim Nguyen officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at St. Joseph Elmina Cemetery in New Waverly.
