Memorial Service for Alexander "Al" Mata will be held on Sunday, January 31, 2016 at 3:00 P.M. in The Chapel at Conroe Funeral Directors with the Rev. Ray Hyden officiating. Mr. Mata was born in Keller, Texas on March 13, 1938 to Felix and Maclovia Mata. He passed away peacefully on January 29, 2016 in Conroe, Texas at the age of 77.

Al was preceded in death by his parents, Felix and Maclovia; brothers, Ascencion Mata, Paul Mata and John Mata; sister, Herminia Delgado, Locadia Arriaga, Lena Castillo; and his wife, Vivian Mata.

Al is survived by his loving family: sons, Alexander Mata, Jr., Richard Mata and Daniel Mata; daughters, Annie Mann, Arlene Figueroa (Mike, Sr.) and Teresa Newsom; brother, Joe Mata; his dear 11 grandchildren and life companion, Mary.

Al graduated from Trimble Technical High School in 1956 and the next year he married Lupe Mata (1957). He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy, where he began his education in Avionics. As an accomplished Avionics technician, Al worked for different airlines and airports throughout the United States. He retired after many years of service with Raytheon Aircraft Services. Al was an active member of the Elks Lodge in Montgomery County from 1998-2010 holding the position of Trustee, Past Exalted Ruler and D.D. G.E.R. He enjoyed the great outdoors, working on his land, fishing, and traveling. He was a wonderful man who will be greatly missed.
