Allen Tod Johnson, of The Woodlands, TX, died unexpectedly on August 17, 2018. Born May 14, 1945 in Santa Barbara, CA, he grew up in Norwalk OH, the son of Dr. Robert Ernst and Elizabeth Tod Johnson. Following one year at the University of Michigan, Allen joined the U.S. Navy and served on the USS Ranger during the Vietnam War. He graduated from Bradley University in Peoria, IL with a degree in civil engineering and earned his law degree at the University of Denver in Denver, CO. Allen enjoyed his career with ExxonMobil where he "kicked the dirt" with western landowners to negotiate mineral rights. He retired from Exxon in 2001.

Allen married his first love Cherie Ennis in 1974, and they soon moved to Houston where their children Amy and Tod were born. Following Cherie's death in 1999, he focused on his family and dove headlong into his passion for restoring antique airplanes, cars, and boats, flying planes, and racing cars. He was an active member of the Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter 302, the Historical Aircraft Restoration Society, the Quiet Birdmen, and was a judge at the EAA AirVenture Oshkosh Fly-In for nearly two decades. He was also a member of the Corinthian Vintage Auto Racing Club.

In 2013, Allen found complete happiness with Andrea Kay Comer, and they were married in July of 2016. Allen and Andie enjoyed their active and loving life together traveling and spending time with their family.

Allen was a gentleman, always offering an easy smile, a funny story, an ear to listen, and a helping hand. His humble nature led him to learn and to guide others by asking thoughtful questions. He was generous, and he lifted up all who were fortunate to know him. His kindness touched many people and endures in their hearts and in their actions.

In addition to his wife, Andie, Allen is survived by his daughter Amy Johnson Graves (John) of Nashville TN; son Robert Tod (Laura) of North Padre Island TX; stepson Greg Comer (Sandra), of Houston, TX; stepdaughter Lindsay Thomason (Wyatt) of Austin, TX; his sister Judy Johnson of San Francisco, CA; and seven grandchildren: William and Wesley Graves; Jacob, Mia, and Matthew Comer, and Brody and Ellie Thomason.

Allen will be greatly missed by family and friends. His funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 25 at 3:00 pm at the Cashner Colonial Chapel, 801 Teas Rd., Conroe, TX 77303. Interment will be immediately following the service in Garden Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to an organization of your choice.
