August (Gus) Henry Behling, Jr., 91, of Panorama Village (Conroe), Texas, passed away on April 20, 2013. He is survived by his wife of over 68 years, Betty Wagner Behling, a son, Richard Behling and wife Debbie of Sugar Land, Texas and a daughter, Linda Behling Gillis of Conroe, Texas.

He served as an officer in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers during World War II in both the European and Pacific theaters. He was a graduate of Texas Tech University earning a degree in Civil Engineering.

During his professional career in the oil industry, he worked for Humble Oil (Exxon). While residing four years in England and three years in Norway, he managed numerous engineering teams that designed several of the North Sea's early major production platforms

Gus originated the engineering firm of Behling, Pollock & Associates. He considered the designing and building of the Brownell Memorial Park & Carillon Tower in Morgan City, Louisiana as one of his most significant endeavors.




Interment will be held at Houston's National Cemetery during a private graveside service. In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests contributions in Gus' memory be directed to the (, P. O. Box 96011, Washington, CD 20090-6011 or .
