Bertha L. Boswell

Obituary
The Guest Book is expired.

Bertha Lee Boswell went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 18, 2015. Her friends and family called her "Micky" while her grandchildren and great grandchildren called her Mamaw Micky. As children they would sing "Mamaw Micky, Mickey Mouse" to her for fun. She loved to play with little children and they enjoyed time with her. She lost her husband Garland Brinson "Red" Boswell in 1969. Her parents Ed and Minnie Florence Jefferson preceded her in death along with her younger brothers Ed Wesley and twins Emery and Avery Jefferson. Her longevity of 98 years surpassed her Grandfather John Greer's record of 95 years.

Micky is survived by her three daughters Molly Campbell, Garland Ferguson, Connie James and their husband's Charlie Campbell, Mike Ferguson Jr., and Terry James. Her grandchildren are Chuck Campbell, Terry and Kathy Cook, Mike and Barbara Ferguson III, Troy McCullagh, Will Ferguson, Gary and Connie Gongre, and John Travis Brown. The great grandchildren are Shaun and Amanda Cook, Carrie and Leanna Cook, Brandon and Rachel Ferguson, Matthew and Ashley Dill, John and Lauren Brome, Megan McCullagh, Haley Ferguson-Anderson, and Austin Travis and Quinton John Brown. Great-great grandchildren are Thomas, Travis, Trenton and Madelyn Cook; Jaden, Elissa, Ryan and Isabella Ferguson; and Addison, Caleb, and Aubrey Dill. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law Mary, Jean and Wilma Jefferson.

Micky was born in Vidor, TX on March 2, 1917. Her father worked for the oil industry, so the family moved around the East Texas oil field towns. Micky loved to dance and requested her mother make her a red dress because of the 1935 song "The Lady in Red" performed by orchestras of that era. Micky met and married Red in Conroe, Texas where she gave birth to their three daughters. They moved the family to Huntsville in 1954. She was known for her delicious pies at potluck dinners at the First Christian Church of Huntsville. Micky enjoyed being a stay-at-home wife and mother. She loved God and shared Jesus to all who listened. Micky was a humble servant always putting family and friends before herself. Her three daughters all the way to the great great grands remember Mamaw Micky joining them in play. She was young at heart all her life and brought great joy and love to those close to her.

Micky moved back to Huntsville eight years ago to live with her daughter Garland's family. She worshiped at the Family Faith Church Huntsville with her granddaughters Kathy Cook and Troy McCullagh. Her doctor, Nabeel Khan, attributed her long life to the love and care she received from those who loved her. All who knew her were blessed.

Her family would like to thank Heart to Heart Hospice Care for their excellent and kind care of both our loved one and her family. Thanks to Andy Graves at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home for his very professional and pleasant attention with our family.
