Betty Timmerman Evans died on November 11, 2013 in The Woodlands, Texas. She was born on August 6, 1920 in Northfield, Vermont to parents Arthur and Margaret Timmerman. They moved to St Louis, Missouri in 1921 where Betty attended Glenridge Elementary and Clayton High School before going on to Christian College in Columbus, Missouri. She married Samuel Rostron Evans on July 11, 1940, and they were married for 65 years. When Sam returned from World War II in 1945, they moved to Houston, Texas where in 1949, they were the co-founders of Bethany Methodist Church. For over 25 years Betty left the house every Wednesday night for choir practice. Her beautiful voice filled churches with hymns for the soul, and her gentle, loving and caring heart filled her home with love and joy. She was the ultimate homemaker and housewife and good neighbor to all. Her early neighbors were friends for life. She was among the first volunteers for The Brookwood Community in Brookshire, Texas, a residence for adults with special needs. Her passions later in life were needlepointing Christmas stockings for every member of her family, playing bridge with her friends, working jigsaw puzzles, and spending time with her family and dear friends at The Forum in The Woodlands. She was the last surviving member of her generation (The Greatest Generation) which included her husband, his three siblings, a sister and all of their spouses. Several of her favorite Bible verses were Joel 2:25, Romans 8:28, and Romans 10:9-10. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam, her sister, Nancy Gilbert, and her granddaughter Kathryn Evans Lesch. She is survived by her sons, Dr. Richard A. Evans, of Houston, Texas and Donald L. Evans and his wife, Susie, of Midland, Texas, and daughter, Peggy E. Lesch, and her husband, Jack, of The Woodlands, Texas; her grandchildren Lisa Moon and husband, Shan, of Midland, Texas, Jenny Evans of The Brookwood Community, and Donald L.
