B.J.DAVIS, 1936-2012

Prayer warrior, homemaker, writer, nurturer, humanitarian and friend, Beverlie Jean "B.J." Davis, stepped into the presence of the Savior she faithfully served just before dawn on Thursday, April12, 2012.

She was born on March 9, 1936 to Loretta Skinner Cross and Paul Cross in Kansas City, Missouri and in 1954 graduated from Texas' Galena Park High School, frequently spearheading its class reunions. BJ was an enthusiastic member of Mims Baptist Church where she was a member of the Ladies 5A-L Sunday School class and a dedicated participant in its weekly intercessory prayer group. Out of the depth of her own experience, BJ was privileged to minister to other parents suffering the loss of a child.

Over a period of years, along with her husband Clinton Ray Davis, BJ blessed the shattered lives of forty-two foster children, providing a loving haven for them during crisis times and continuing to minister to them on birthdays and other special occasions.

BJ is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clinton Ray "Sarge" Davis and son, Paul "Eddie" Allen. She is survived by her daughter, Julie Anne ("my right hand") Smith and husband Reggie of Slidell, Louisiana; son, Ron ("…in whom I am well pleased") Davis and wife Mimi of Conroe; daughter, Raelene Aragon of Willis, TX., brother Ron Cross and wife Cleta of Conroe, grandchildren, Sunni Alperti and husband Chris of Redondo Beach, CA, Misti Daniel and husband Shane of Spring, TX, Ryan Mayorga and husband Jacob of Montgomery, TX, Ryan Smith and wife Stephanie of Picayune, MS, Bubba Smith, US Navy, Virginia Beach, VA, Michael Aragon of Willis; TX; and four great-grandchildren. Pallbearers are Jerry Allen, Chris Alperti, Shane Daniel, Jacob Mayorga, Bubba Smith, and Ryan Smith.

The family will receive friends at Cashner Funeral Home on Sunday afternoon from 5:00 until 7:00 pm. The celebration of BJ's life will be Monday, April 16, 2012 at 10:00 am in Cashner Colonial Chapel with Pastor Gene Kendrick officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service in Garden Park Cemetery. You are invited to leave written tributes and condolences for the family on our website at www.cashnerconroe.com.
