Carolyn (known to family and friends as Vevo) was born on May 2, 1938 in Corryton, Tennessee and passed away January 13, 2017 in Conroe, Texas. She became a member of Graveston Baptist Church in Corryton, TN at age 14. Further down the road Carolyn and John were married at this very same location. Carol graduated Gibbs High School in Corryton, Tennessee, as salutatorian in 1956. She then began her career working in the field of education. After 46 years of heartfelt service, she retired from Conroe High School in 2002. But that wasn't enough people interaction for Carol. So Grandma White--as the kids knew her--volunteered for 5 years at Crippin Elementary School where she would read to Kindergarten and 1st grade students. Carol's effervescent personality and caring ways drew the children in for some really fun learning. Some of Carol's passions were gardening, quilting, cooking, and the University of Tennessee athletics. It wasn't abnormal for Vevo to help out a neighbor as well. However, none of these surpassed her love and devotion for her family.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, John W. White; loving Mother of Lisa (Raymond) Newcomer, Lynda (Ken) Serfass, and Karen (Nathan) Ivy; loving Grandmother of Jeffery Hoke, Thomas Borowski II, Nicole Ivy, John Borowski, and Bradley Ivy; loving Great-Grandmother of Bethany Hoke, Jackson Hoke, and Sarah Hoke; loving Sister of Jerry (Darlene) Cleveland, and Joann (Ronald) Beeler; dear Aunt of several Nieces and Nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Alfred and Stella Cleveland, and siblings Doris Welch, Jimmy Cleveland, Keith Cleveland, and Glenn Cleveland.

Visitation will be held at Cashner Funeral Home in Conroe, Texas on Friday, January 20, 2017, from 5:00pm to 8:00pm.

Graveside service will be held at Cashner Funeral Home's Garden Park Cemetery on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 10:00am. Officiating the funeral will be Reverend Ronald Beeler and Thomas Borowski. Ronald is Carol's Brother-in-Law from Corryton, TN. Thomas is Carol's Grandson who is a second year seminary student at Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University. Pall Bearers: Grandsons; Jeffery Hoke, Thomas Borowski, John Borowski, Bradley Ivy, Mark Galan. Granddaughter; Airman Nicole Ivy. Honorary Pall Bearer; Natalie Holland.
