Charles Kenward Power, Jr. went peacefully to be with the Lord on July 25, 2014 at home surrounded by his family. Charlie was born on February 3, 1935 in Houston, TX. His family relocated to Lake Charles, LA, where he graduated from Landry Memorial High School in 1953. He enlisted in the United States Navy and served his country for 2 years on the USS Elokomin (A0-55), serving tours in the Atlantic Ocean and Mediterranean Sea. Charlie was a graduate of McNeese State University in Lake Charles, LA. After graduating he worked for Sit Con in Lake Charles and then moved to Houston, TX to work for Conoco. While in Houston he met his bride Dolores Lezak. They were married on October 6, 1963 in Sealy, TX. In 1964 his first son Michael was born in Kerrville, TX, and in 1966 the triplets, son Jeff and daughters, Lisa and Brenda were born in San Antonio, TX. The family relocated to Houston, TX when Charlie started his career with the 3M Company in 1968, and enjoyed a 30 year career working in the Adhesives, Coatings and Sealers Division while living in Houston and later moved to Dallas where he was promoted to Account Executive in the Aerospace division. Through his career he received numerous awards for sales records, including trips to Boca Raton, FL, Spain, and five trips to Hawaii. Charlie retired from 3M in 1998 and built their retirement home in April Sound on Lake Conroe. He enjoyed many years of retirement, playing golf and having coffee and breakfast with his buddies from the April Sound Men's Club. Charlie achieved a rare hole-in-one on the 16th hole of April Sound golf course, and also served as the President of the April Sound Men's Club. Charlie was a 4th Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus at Sacred Heart Church in Conroe, TX. Charlie is preceded in death by his mother and father, Kenward and Daisy Power, and survived by his wife of 51 years, Dolores Power, children Michael Power of Dallas, TX, Jeff Power and wife Carla of Austin TX, daughter Lisa Duin and husband Russell of Kingwood, TX, and daughter Brenda Zeiler and husband Chuck of Cypress, TX, grandchildren Zachary and Lindsey Zeiler, Evan and Emily Duin, and Sophia and Charlie Power, brother Patrick Power and wife Linda of Leakey, TX and sister Mary English of Lake Charles, LA. Pall bearers for the service are Bill Melnar, Roy Lynch, Bill Wylie, Bill Love, Wendell Gamel, Dan Bergen. Visitation is from 5-7 pm Tuesday July 29 at Cashner Funeral Home in Conroe, TX, The Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 am Wednesday, July 30 at Sacred Heart Church in Conroe, TX. In lieu of flowers the family requests to make donations to the , Hospice through www.seasonfoundation.org (or mailed to Hospice and Palliative Care, 333 N. Sam Houston Parkway East, #333, Houston, TX 77060) or St. Vincent DePaul society through Sacred Heart Church, Conroe Tx.
