Charles (aka "Sonny" and "Charlie") R. Rogers left to be in the arms of our Lord on October 2, 2013. He was born on January 26, 1930 in Walters, Oklahoma to Lawrence Homer Rogers and Mary Estelle Yarbrough Rogers.

Charlie leaves to cherish his memory, a loving wife, Janice Fletcher Rogers of Dobbin, Texas; daughters and sons-in-law Sherri and Jim Clark of Austin, Texas and Charla and Doug Stewart of Spring, Texas; step-son Doug Johnson and his wife, Andrea of Montgomery, Texas and step-daughter Maggie Johnson and partner Crystal Aguayo also of Montgomery, Texas; his brother Buddy Rogers and wife Joy of Lawton, Oklahoma; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Karen L. Fletcher Beckwith and Jim Beckwith of Hoyt, Kansas. He will long be remembered by his nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, eight nieces and nephews, eleven great nieces and nephews and many great-great nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother and father and a sister and brother-in-law, Merila and Dub Roberts, of Walters, Oklahoma.

Charlie was an avid, dedicated and accomplished horseman, spending many days with Jan riding back-country wilderness trails in the United States and Canada, forming lasting friendships over campfires and relishing the beauty and wonder of God's creations. He was happiest when he was working with, caring for, schooling and riding horses.

Charlie was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the Montgomery Lodge #25 and the Scottish Rite of McAlester, Oklahoma.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to Montgomery Lodge #25, P.O. Box 64, Montgomery, Texas and/or SIRE Therapeutic Horsemanship Center, 24161 Spring Drive, Hockley, Texas 77447.

In departing, Charlie prefers to continue the unassuming life that he exemplified throughout his years on earth and has requested no formal services. Family and friends will gather to exchange condolences and memories at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home, 20850 Eva Street (State Hwy 105), Montgomery Texas on Friday, October 4, 2013 between 1:00 and 3:00 P.M.
