Claudia O'Bryant

Obituary
The Guest Book is expired.

Claudia Margaret Woolsey O'Bryant, 78, returned to her Heavenly home on March 5, 2015, after a valiant battle with illness. Her devotion to her family and her certain belief in God and His faithfulness supported her in her struggle and ultimately gave her peace.

Claudia was born to the late Sterling & Libby Linn (Gardner) Woolsey, a S. Texas Wildcatter and a homemaker respectively, in Houston, TX on March 30, 1936. She was immersed in the Christian community that would be her lifelong support from an early age. She taught youth group to students as a young adult. She graduated from Lon Morris College in Jacksonville, TX, with a degree in social work and continued as a social worker in Dallas and Corpus Christi Texas for many years.

Claudia was blessed with a large and loving family. She was married to her best friend, James B. O'Bryant, on April 20, in 1970 in Corpus Christi, TX. Claudia raised their six children with patience, discipline and humility. She felt especially blessed to have the privilege of time with her precious granddaughter in her formative years. She taught us to read voraciously, to love music and travel, and to love others. Claudia and Jim often took the family on long trips to see the natural beauty of many states in the South and Southwest. From the very beginning, she dedicated her children to God and encouraged them to explore the beauty of the gospels and the wonders of His creation.

Claudia was an educator and lover at heart. She was kind, and always had time to listen and to answer a question or solve a problem, no matter how small. She is dearly missed by her loved ones, who celebrate the fact that she is at peace with her Creator.

Claudia is survived by her husband, Jim; her daughters, Jeri Hall, Lauri Stapp, and Patti Hancock and their spouses respectively, Michael, Rod, and Scott; her sons, Jim, Richard, & Chuck O'Bryant and daughter-in-law Denise; her granddaughter, Jennifer Cashman and husband Lucas; her sister, Linnell Dunaway; her aunt, Faye Gardner, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Sterling & Libby Linn Woolsey, and many precious friends.

A memorial service will be held celebrating Claudia's life at the Cypress Creek Church in Wimberley, TX, on Monday, March 9, at 2:00p. Pastor Rob Campbell will officiate the service. The family gratefully declines flowers, but donations are gladly accepted at Seton League House, 3207 Medical Parkway, Austin, TX, 78705 or www.woundedwarriorproject.org.
