Clayton Leroy Phillips, Jr., age 84, passed away on June 25, 2016. Clayton was born in Shawnee, Oklahoma on May 14, 1932 to Jewel Phillips and Clayton Leroy Phillips, Sr. He is survived by his son, Edward Phillips, daughter in law, Yvette Phillips, granddaughters, Samantha and Hannah Phillips, step daughters, Connie Boggs and Toni Shields, brother, Bohn Edward Phillips, nephews, Bohn Edward Philips II, Keith Stanley Phillips, Curtis Theodore Phillips, and his lifelong friend, Jim Robards. Clayton is preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Phillips and his mother, Jewel Phillips, and his father Clayton Leroy Phillips Sr. He grew up in Houston alongside his lifelong friend, Jim Robards. Clayton served in the Navy during the Korean War Era. After serving in the military he earned his law degree at the University of Houston and was a member of the State Bar of Texas, for over fifty years. He enjoyed his work helping others through life's difficult circumstances. He took great pleasure in the arts and loved enjoying the finer things of life. In his later years he moved in with his son's family due to his declining health. His younger granddaughter's enjoyed bringing joy and laughter to his life. A memorial service will be held on Saturday July 9, 2016 at 3:00pm at Lakeside Bible Church in Montgomery, Texas. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your choice.
