Clyde Carroll Kitchens, 75, of Spring, Texas, passed away October 17, 2015. He was born in Laurel, Mississippi on April 17, 1940. He was married to Diana Kitchens on January 15, 1983. Clyde had a career in the United States Army as a Medical Assistant. His Army rank was SP5 and he was honorably discharged after 22 years. He worked for Ethylene Gulf Coast Corporation (EGC) for another 22 years as the supervisor of the Molding Department. While serving the United States as an Army Medical Assistant, Clyde achieved the following awards and medals: National Defense Service Medal (NDSM), Army of Occupation Medal (AOM), Good Conduct Medal (GCMDL), Vietnam Service Medal (VSM), Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal (RVNCM), Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation with Palm (RVNGCUCW/P), Bronze Star Medal (BSM), Army Commendation Medal (ARCOM) and Oak Leaf Cluster (1OLC-1). He was devoted and loyal in service to our Lord Jesus. He was instrumental in starting ministries in the church. He helped to start a food pantry ministry, a nursery crib and supplies ministry, and was often ready to help out at the church whenever something was needed. He taught classes for the Junior High students and young adults. He led prayer meetings for many years in his home. Clyde had a heart for those in need and worked to serve others in all areas of his life. He always considered himself privileged to serve and disciple others along with helping churches to grow. His hobbies were fishing, hunting and painting beautiful landscape pictures, yet none of them came before his love of God and family. He was survived by his daughters, Sandra Ishee (Curtiss), Lynn Lessing and Margaret Jackson (Bradford), son John Mitchell (Vickie) and former son-in-law, Mike Lessing; grandchildren, Jennifer Garza (David), Joey Ishee (Amanda), Amanda Barajas (Michael), Ashley Mitchell, Danielle Mitchell, David Lessing (Jana), Candra Henriquez (Jason), Brad Jackson, Ethan Jackson and Lauren Jackson; great-grandchildren, Kylie Ishee, Gabriela Garza, Curtiss Ishee, III, Grady Ishee, Marcus Barajas, Erik Barajas, Eli Mitchell, Ava Martinez, Evan Henriquez, Maddox Henriquez, Leah Lessing, Cael Lessing and Harper Jackson; and sisters, Ellen Walters and Ernestine Stringfellow (Freddy). He was preceded in death by his mother, Christine Virginia Lawless Payne; father, Ernest Price Kitchens and a brother-in-law, Rayburn Walters. A public viewing will be held from 2:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m. with the service beginning at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 22, 2015, at Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home, 18000 Interstate 45 South, The Woodlands, Texas 77384.
