Dale K. Pettry passed away early morning Saturday June 30, 2012 at the age of 94. He died in his sleep while recovering from complications of a broken hip. Born in Akron, Ohio Dale moved to Michigan to work for the Ford Motor Company and raise his family. Upon his retirement in 1980 he spent his post retirement years in Conroe, Texas designing and building homes, traveling with family and friends, golfing, playing tennis and was active in the Conroe Church of Christ. Dad led a long and quality Christian life. Dale is preceded in death by his parents, John & Emelyn Pettry and his sister, Audrey Gardner. Dale is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Sophie Pettry of Montgomery; daughters, Karen Lehman and husband Jay of Montgomery, Emmy Curnutte and husband Dennis of New Hudson, Michigan, Laura Bonhart and husband Johann of Magnolia and Virginia Pettry of Montgomery; sons, Robert Pettry and wife Karen of Grosse Ile, Michigan and William Pettry of Austin; sister, Naomi Tome of Abilene; brother, Don Pettry and wife Christine of Gainesville, Florida; grandchildren, Jeff Pettry, Erin Potter, D.J. Curnutte and Laura Franzeca and five great grandchildren all living in Michigan. Numerous other relatives and friends also survive. On Tuesday, July 3 a reception and visitation with family will be held at the Conroe Church of Christ, 1860 Longmire Road at 1:00 pm, followed by a memorial service at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers the family has asked for donations in Dale's name to either the Conroe Church of Christ's "Share the Vision" or "Church Mission" fund.
