Darrell Wayne Gimbel, 52, passed away peacefully at his home in Conroe, Texas on Tuesday June 25, 2014. A native Texan; he was born on June 30, 1961 in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was one of two sons raised by Lillie McKinney and Gary "Buck"Gimbel. Darrell spent most of his life living and working in the Houston Area. He moved to Conroe in 2011 to be closer to his daughter, son-in-law, and his new grandson. Before retiring from Hadley Auto Transport, Darrell was an active member of the Teamsters Union both in Houston and in San Antonio. He loved to golf, hunt, and ride his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He had many friends who would join him on rides through the hill-country. More recently, Darrell spent as much time as he could with his grandson. He is preceded in death by his father, Buck Gimbel. He will be greatly missed by his mother and step-father, Lillie and Bill McKinney; his brother, Dale Gimbel; his step-brother, Klint McKinney; his daughter and son-in-law, Ashley and John Lawless; and his grandson, Jesse Lawless. A memorial service for Darrell will be held on Tuesday July 1st at 2 pm at Metcalf Funeral Directors (1801 East White Oak Terrace; Conroe, Texas 77304)
