David Karl Burns, of Conroe, Texas, passed away on Saturday, November 14, 2015. He was born on May 26, 1952 in Dallas, TX.

David graduated from Ross S. Sterling High School, Houston in 1970. He married Debbie Farkas in 1972 and together they raised two beautiful daughters, Amy and Lori. The family moved to Conroe in 1983.

David began his 30+ year career in the oil and gas industry in 1974 as a Piping Designer. His work took him to many places including: Alaska, California, Louisiana, Montana, North Dakota, Venezuela, and Washington. This career was interrupted for a period of time in the 1980's giving David the opportunity to pursue his passion for law enforcement. David served as a Reserve Deputy in Harris County and as a Deputy Sheriff in Montgomery County.

David was a kind and loving man who spent his life dedicated to his faith and family. He loved music, amassing a collection of thousands of albums. He was always eager to travel not only with his work but vacationing with family and friends in many states and several countries. More than anything he was happiest spending time with his family. David was very active in "the girls" activities, whether it was at an elementary school being the "room dad," working the concession stand at a high school volleyball game, being an integral part of the college Parent Association, or helping out in the library.

David's favorite time of year was always the holiday season, when he could put on his Santa hat and bring joy and laughter to young and old alike as "Conroe Santa." David had a way of bringing humor to any situation and his smile and laughter were infectious.

David was preceded in death by his father, Weldon Burns. He is survived by his wife of 43 years Debbie, and his daughters Amy and Lori. He is also survived by his mother Norma Burns, his sisters Kathy Guevara and husband Armando, Nelwyn Lewis, Betty Burns, and his sisters-in-law Janet Kelly and husband Robert, Laura Jo Miller and husband Rocky Johnson. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members.

The family would like to say "thank you" to our family and friends for their love and support during this time, with a special "thank you" to R.H. Bond and Tommy Jones for their care for David.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 18, 2015 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Metcalf Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, November 19, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Metcalf Funeral Home.

Honorary pallbearers: R.H. Bond, Lance Boone, Mike Franco, Derek Gates, Dennis Hall, and Ben Taylor.
