David Dan Mayfield, 77, left this earth for his eternal home on Wednesday, Christmas Eve, 2014. He was born February 16, 1937, in Abilene, Texas to Dail and Mollie Mayfield. He graduated from Stephenville High School and Tarleton College in Stephenville, Texas, and attended Texas Tech in Lubbock. He then went to work for the Army Corp of Engineers. In 1965, David met and married Joyce, the love of his life. In 1969, he joined Southwestern Laboratories where he worked for 25+ years before joining Terracon Consultants, where he worked until retirement.

David and Joyce enjoyed many years of traveling, camping, and antiquing together. David was an avid hunter and fisherman - a love he passed on to his son and grandsons. He is survived by his wife Joyce of 49 years; their two children, Michael Mayfield and his wife Rhonda, and Pamela Williams; 10 grandchildren and one great granddaughter. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be greatly missed.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, December 30 at 2 PM at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Willis, Texas. Condolences may be left at www.shmfh.com.
