On Thursday, the 21st of January 2016, Dawn Darlene Holloway went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was born in Dallas, Texas on the 20th of April 1933 to parents Carrie and Fred Simmer.

Dawn attended University Park Elementary School and Highland Park High School in Dallas.

She was an accomplished musician on the accordion. When very young, Dawn and her sister played their accordions on WFAA radio on Saturday mornings in the early forties. Their favorite tune was "Alexander's Ragtime Band". She also enjoyed reading, oil painting, and her yorkie dogs.

When Dawn was at SMU, she was selected as a Rotunda Beauty and a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority.

In 1976, she married James Holloway. They lived in Chattanooga, Tennessee; Jackson, Mississippi; Houston, Texas; Plano, Texas; and finally Willis, Texas. During her time in Jackson, Mississippi she was President of the Welcome Neighbor Club. They were married forty years.

She was a member of the West Conroe Baptist Church and had many friends there.

Dawn taught first grade for many years in Texas and was an excellent teacher. She was kind, loving, caring, and a very "classy" lady. We loved her very much.

She is survived by her husband, James Holloway; her sister, Joyce Hallett and husband John; her children, Russell Proud and his wife Lisa; Fred Proud; Cindy Braddock and husband Mark; Janet Marshall and her husband George; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

There will be a memorial service to celebrate her life in the near future.
