Deborah Kay Halter, 57, passed away December 25, 2011, after a courageous battle with inflammatory breast cancer. Debbie was born October 2, 1954 in Houston, Texas. She is preceded in death by her parents, Clem and Mary Marshall and brother-in-law, Danny (Sug) Slott. She is survived by her sister, Pat Slott; brother Donnie Marshall and wife Linda; daughters, Stephanie Jackson and husband Richard, Christie Bryant and husband Joe; sons, Charlie Wilkerson and Justin Halter; grandsons, Joe, Keelious, and Tharell Bryant; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Debbie was a very active parishioner of St. Joseph's Catholic Church having been a member of the church choir and running the bazaar auction for several years. With the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary she helped with the fish fries and the bar-b-que cook-offs. Another passion of hers was the annual library cook-offs. Even with a rare and rapidly changing disease, she always had a positive attitude and hopeful outlook on life that could never get her down. Debbie never worried about herself, always putting others ahead of her. With a friendly hello and a beautiful smile on her face, she never met a stranger, you instantly became her friend. A special "Thank You" to her friends and co-workers at Women's Health Care Affiliates, the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary, and the Odyssey House from Conroe. Visitation Thursday, December 29, 2011, 5:00 - 7:00 pm with Rosary following at Sam Houston Funeral Home in Huntsville. A funeral mass will be celebrated Friday, December 30, 2011, 11:00 am at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in New Waverly. Interment will follow at Shepard Hill Cemetery in New Waverly.
