Obituary - Delbert Leon Terry

Delbert Leon Terry went to be with the Lord on January 22, 2018 in Conroe, Texas. Delbert was born November 24, 1929 to Elmer Leroy and Stella Lee Terry in Bethany, Oklahoma, the youngest of five children. He moved with his family to Houston, TX when he was a young boy, and graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in 1948.

Delbert was a member of the National Guard and joined the United States Air Force in 1950. He was trained in aircraft mechanics and assigned to the 808th Air Police Squadron and was sent overseas to England.

Following the military, Delbert moved back to Houston, and later made his home in Humble, TX. He utilized his training from the military and pursued a long career in the automotive industry. He enjoyed restoring cars in his spare time, and excelled in auto mechanics. He eventually opened his own automotive repair business in Humble and managed it for many years until he sold the business and retired. Upon retirement, he moved to Nacogdoches, TX, and eventually to Willis, TX where he lived until his passing.

Delbert loved spending time with his wife, Maxine, and with his children. He enjoyed playing dominoes and cards with his friends and neighbors, and attending services at his church. He especially liked the July 4th military celebration at his church each year, as well as the annual Christmas service. His church family and friends were very important to him, and he talked about them often.

Delbert is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Maxine Terry along with his four children, Patricia and Ronald Ferguson of Willis, TX, Pamela and Robert Ford of Galveston, TX, Diana and Steve See of Houston, TX and Phillip Terry of Humble, TX ; six grandsons, Andrew Ferguson, Brian Ferguson, Christopher Ford, Charles Ford, Colton Ford, and Jack See ; the mother of his surviving children, Anne Terry of Humble, TX ; stepdaughter, Karen and Kerry Simmons of Spring, TX, and stepson, Craig and Cindy Clarke of Huntsville, TX ; grandchildren Jamie and Mark Gorkiewicz, Jennifer and Rick Sabados, Kevin and Marquis Clarke, Alyson and Tim Fellwock, and Paige and Cory Yurkon ; great grandchildren, Cassidy, Tyler, Luca, Brody, Brooke and Kevin, Jr.
