Funeral services for Don Hammond, 74, a lifetime resident of Willis, Texas will be held on Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. in The Chapel at Conroe Funeral Directors with Pastor James Patrick officiating. Interment will follow in Willis Cemetery with full military honors. The family will receive friends on Monday, March 19, 2012 from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Don was born on July 28, 1937 in Conroe and passed away on March 15, 2012 in Conroe. Don was an avid sportsman who loved the outdoors, especially when he was fishing or hunting with his friends. He also enjoyed visiting with family and friends whether it was at the local coffee shop or on the street. Don never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He was a loving father and grandfather who will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents, T.B. Hammond and Georgia Mae Newsom, two of his brothers, Nolan E. Hammond and Dale Scott, and sister Robbie E. Fowler. Don is survived by his loving family: daughters, Vicki L. Hammond-Crocker of New Braunfels, Texas and Myssi K. Rogers and husband, Bo of Panorama, Texas; brother, Warren Scott of St. Louis, Missouri; grandchildren, Morgan Mack, Colin Mack, Devin Mack, Maizy Mack-Gladden, Meghan Mack, Hunter Mack, Ethan Mack and Zoe Grace Rogers; great grandchildren, Molly Mack, Jaden Mack and Kobe Mack; several nieces and nephews also survive, as well as, a host of longtime friends. The family would like to extend special thanks to Melody Szymanski for her loving care for him over the last several years.
