Donald Gillaspie was born October 25, 1928, in Bloomington, Indiana, and passed away on December 10, 2011, in Conroe, Texas. Funeral services will be held at the First Assembly of God in Willis, Texas, on Wednesday, December 14, 2011, at 10:00 A.M.

He served in the United States Navy from August 1944 through May 1946 in both the Atlantic and Pacific Fleet on the USS Neoshoa and USS Great Sitken. Donald was in the reserves from 1947 - 1951 and served on the USS Edmond. He was honorably discharged as a Seaman 1st Class (Ship fitter and a welder).

He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Edna Gillaspie and his parents Emma Jane Hardy and Floyd Herbert Gillaspie.

Donald is survived by son - Gary Gillaspie; daughters - Donna Jean Hendrickson, Alice Christofferson, and Emma Buckaloo; grandchildren - Danny Hendrickson, Donnetta Kinser, Robyn Hendrickson, Gary Buckaloo, Donald Christofferson, Dawn Christofferson, Scott Gillaspie, Tad Johnson, Chris Gillaspie, Dustin Christofferson, and Lee Gillaspie; 25 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Assembly of God in Willis, Texas (936-856-4015).
