Dorla Deane Jones Henthorn, age 83, passed away n June 6th after a long illness. Dorla was born on March 19, 1931 to Viola Eleanor Jerred and Dale Franklin Jones in Ottumwa, Iowa. She left there to follow her husband to Texas in the mid 50's and settled in Willis. In the 70's she and her husband Donald started Henthorn's Nursery in their front yard on North Danville and later on moved the operation over to Long Street where the business expanded to include numerous greenhouses. Dorla took her love for all things floral and they opened Henthorn's Florist which she successfully operated into the early 80's.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Dale and Viola Jones; brothers Clarence Jones and Ronald Jones, all of Ottumwa, IA, and Alvin Jones of Mountain Home, AR; sister Carolee Peek of Ottumwa, IA; and by her son-in-law Michael E. Fox of Conroe. She was also preceded in death by ex-husband and friend, Donald Henthorn of Houston; and her son Donald Henthorn II of Willis.

She is survived by her brother, Bruce Jones (Sally) of Ottumwa, IA; her childhood friend and sister-in-law, Ruth Ann Henthorn of Seneca, SC; daughters Maryann Henthorn of Stafford, Sharon Fox of Conroe, and Elizabeth Henthorn of Willis. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Ronnie Duncan Jr of Willis, Kayla Duncan (Chris Bess) of Shepherd, and Michael (Mikey) Fox II of Conroe; her great-grandchildren, Bretton Guidry and Trace Duncan of Willis, Alyssa Pruett and Christopher (CJ) Bess Jr. of Shepherd, Christina and Whitney Bess of Conroe, and MacKenzie Duncan of Dayton.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 10 from 6-8 PM at the Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Willis. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, June 11 at 11 AM in the Chapel at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Willis with burial following services at Smith Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a contribution to the ALS Association at alsa.org in honor of her son who died from ALS in 2004. Written condolences may be left on our website at www.shmfh.com.
