Dorothea (Dot) Ottosen

1922 - 2016

Dorothea Ottosen, the youngest of eleven children, was born in Medford, Massachusetts. She met the love of her life, Don Ottosen, at a USO dance in Boston during WWII. They were married in 1944 and moved to Houston by way of Kansas City in 1948. She was an excellent bookkeeper, working early on at Russell Stovers Candies and later keeping books for her husband's building business. She and Don retired to Willis in the early 80's. She will be remembered as a loving, fun, and light-hearted soul who loved to dance, oil paint, and play cards, especially bridge with friends with whom she became very close over the years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Catherine Harrington from Ireland, five brothers and five sisters, her loving husband of 67 years, Don, and her granddaughters, Marissa Ottosen and Laurel Clements. She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Steve and wife, Alice, Lynn and husband Norry Grygar, Denise and husband, Raul Lede, Danny and wife Bonnie, Dee Anne and husband Jerry Van Houton and Doug and wife Madelene. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Chad and Brad Ottosen, Natalie Hamilton, Michael Grygar, Noreen Cedeno, Matthew Grygar, Mary Graham, Crystal Hanson, Lyndsay Baumann, Valorie Baxter, Ben Van Houten, Jessica Jewell-Elliott and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
