Dorothy Bernice Sappenfield (97) passed away peacefully on January 13, 2012, at the Park Manor Nursing Home in Conroe, Texas. She was born in Lee's Summit, Missouri on August 5, 1914. Dorothy became a Texan in mid-2008, but lived most of her life in Lee's Summit where she was a life-long member of the First Baptist Church. Her spiritual faith and optimism were an inspiration to all who met her. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Vern G. Sappenfield, her parents Champ and Zora Hamblen, and siblings Delbert Hamblen, Gerald Hamblen, and Margarete Davidson. Dorothy is survived by her sister Zora Belle Laster of Lee's Summit and two sons: William Terry Sappenfield and wife Nancy of Montgomery, Texas and James Kent Sappenfield of Euless, Texas. She has four grandchildren: William Terry Sappenfield II of Spring, Heidi Powell Hansen of Tomball, James Michael Sappenfield of Dallas, and Ryan David Sappenfield of Tampa, Florida. She also leaves four great grandchildren: Candace Sappenfield, Hayden Hansen, Charley Hansen and Riley Sappenfield. There will be a memorial service at one o'clock Sunday afternoon, January 15, 2012 at the Cashner Funeral Home in Conroe. Final internment will be in Lee's Summit, Missouri.
