Dorothy Miller Cortemeglia, age 90, died peacefully on Monday, January 28, 2013. She was born on January 21, 1923 in Pearland, Texas to Berry Miller, Sr. and Marguerite Oblinger and was one of four children.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her three siblings: Berry Miller, Jr., Wayne Miller, Eileen Evans and their spouses, and her her ex-husband, Thomas Cortemeglia, Sr. She is survived by her three children, Thomas Cortemeglia, Jr. and wife Janiece Cortemeglia of Nashville, TN, Dorothy Cortemeglia Kuhn and husband, Dr. Joel Kuhn of Panorama Village, TX, and youngest daughter and longtime caregiver, Pidd Cortemeglia of Panorama Village, TX. She is survived by three grandchildren, Craig Cortemeglia, Jennifer Kuhn, and Cheryl Cortemeglia; and two half sisters, Michalyn Ordeneaux and Jacalyn DeLange. She has many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

Dot attended Webster and Pearland High School, and Sam Houston State Teacher's College, graduating with Masters in Education. She enjoyed a lifetime career in Houston's HISD as a science teacher at Bastian Elementary and Cullen Junior High School and she served as a guidance counselor and Dean of Students at Sterling High School. After her retirement from HISD, she took another science teaching position in the Klein School District.

Dot enjoyed being a HLS&R calf scramble donor as well as a swine auction buyer. Dot was active in the Krewe of Aquarius in Galveston and was the Mardi Gras Queen in 1995. She enjoyed living and entertaining friends and family at her bay home in Bayou Vista, Hitchcock, TX., cooking her delicious gumbo, fried shrimp, and stuffed flounder.

The family would like to thank the superior staff of Silverado Senior Living-The Woodlands for giving outstanding love and care during her six years of quality life there.
