Dorothy Wright Evans, 91, of Bryan, Texas passed into the Arms of God on Thursday, August 1, 2013. She is survived by her children, Derrell Evans and his wife Carol Evans of Meadow Place, TX; Gaylon Evans of Pasadena, TX; Lana Ingram and her husband Tom Ingram of Kurtin, TX; grandchildren, Alison Cowan and her husband Scot Cowan of Katy, TX; Tarence Evans and his wife Monica Evans of Tomball, TX, Tommy Ingram, Jr and his wife Rachael Ingram of Houston, TX, and Ben Ingram and his wife Kimberly Ingram of Crosby, TX; Amanda Selcer and husband Toby Selcer of Spring, TX; Mark Ingram of Caldwell, TX and 20 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Emmett R. Evans; mother, Lucille Alexander; father, Jesse James Wright, and two brothers, Fred Wright and Jesse James Wright, Jr.

Dorothy was born in Teague, TX in 1921. Her family spent many years moving around the oil fields of Texas and Louisiana. Her family settled down in Aldine, North of Houston, and finished her schooling there. She was a drum major in the school band. She attended business school and had various jobs in Accounting. She married Emmett R. Evans in 1943 and they were off to the war effort. After the war, they moved back to Pasadena and raised a family. She was a resident of Pasadena, TX, Willis, TX, Alamo, TX ,and Bryan, TX over the years.

Dorothy also was a master quilter, designing over 80 quilts and giving them away to family and friends in Texas, Nevada, and even Brazil.

She supported charitable groups associated with the Indians of Appalachia. She also was very concerned about the natural world and gave to many organizations dealing with conservation.

Dorothy always put God first in her life. She was a solid moral force in the family and to all the people around her. She was a true matriarch and will be greatly missed.

Visitation was, August 3, 2013 from 11am- 1pm at Metcalf Funeral Home, Conroe. Funeral service were held 1:00 PM in the Metcalf Funeral Chapel.
