Dorthy M. Steel was born October 12, 1932 in Groveton, Texas to Fred and Effie Riordan Kennedy, and passed away on Friday, January 9, 2015 at the age of 82. Dorthy was an active member of the Longmire Road Church of Christ. She loved and was well-loved by her church family. Dorthy served as a wonderful example of faith and joy even in the midst of physical adversity. Dorthy retired as a County Executive Director for the U.S.D.A after 32 years of service. She will be missed by all who had the honor to know and love her. Dorthy was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one sister. She is survived by her husband of 31 1/2 years, Bennie Steel of Conroe, Texas; daughter Helen Vincent Selby of Houma, Louisiana; three step daughters, Rev. Elizabeth Moen and husband Rik of Coppell, Texas, Sharon Lee Hernandez and husband Sam of Bryan, Texas, and Carolyn Greeney and husband Mike of League City, Texas. Dorthy also had 9 grandchildren: Kristen Selby, Vincent Selby and wife Brittany, Audrey Sulak and husband Kyle, Erin Beifuss and husband Chris, Natalie Marin Andrade and husband Josh, Tyler Hernandez, Caleb Moen, Samantha Greeney and Rachel Greeney, 4 great grandchildren: Kimber and Koen Selby, Isabelle Sulak and Hunter Beifuss, and 9 brothers and sisters. Visitation will be held at Cashner Funeral Home on Sunday, January 11, 2015 from 3:30-5:30pm. Funeral Service will be on Monday, January 12, 2015 in the Cashner Colonial Chapel at 12:30pm with John Helbig ministering. Burial will follow in the Garden Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be : Tink Calfee, Doug Welborn, Joe Goodspeed, Don Koontz, Dennis Bonner and Colt Krauskopf. To leave condolences to the family visit our website at www.cashnerconroe.com
