Doug Scott, devoted Son, Father, Husband, Papa and Uncle was reunited with cherished family members in Heaven, November 14, 2016. Doug was born August 23, 1960 to Gene Scott and Patricia Litton in Shreveport, Louisiana.

He was blessed with 4 children; Lora, Adam and Ashley Scott and Julie Ellison.

Doug married his high school crush and the love of his life, Jeannie Hanks on March 14, 2013. In that short time, they combined families and enjoyed every moment of their time together. Doug was known as Step Father to Jeannie's son and daughter in law, Brian and Darlene Manning and Papa to grandchildren Lexie and Marshal, Kaleigh and Karleigh.

Doug attended Spring High School and San Jacinto Junior College. He was a true public servant, devoting his time to helping others as a police officer, paramedic and firefighter. He retired from the Meridian, Mississippi police department in 2010.

Doug always found humor and looked for lighthearted moments in spite of debilitating illness that plagued the end of his life. He fought like a courageous warrior in order to preserve the life he loved with his family.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Patricia Litton and daughter Ashley Scott and sister Karen Scott. He is survived by his Father, Gene Scott, his wife, Jeannie Scott, his mother in law, Marlene Hanks, his daughter, Lora Scott and fiancé Colton Hillebrand, his son, Adam Scott, daughter Julie Ellison and husband Chance Ellison from Alabama and Brian and Darlene Manning. He was blessed with 4 grandchildren, Lexie and Marshal Manning and Kaleigh and Karleigh Hillebrand.

A private celebration of Doug's life will be held Thursday evening, November 17.
