Earl Thomas Gilliam, originally from New Waverly, TX died peacefully at his home in Tomball this past Wednesday. Gilliam moved to Houston and made his mark there and overseas as a singer and musician and then settled as a resident of Tomball with his wife Carrie Jean. A very well-loved and respected musician, community member, church-organist and volunteer, he was one of a kind and a truly good man. Preceded in death by his beloved mother and father Rosa Cain Gilliam and Willie Marion Gilliam and eight of his siblings. Survived by his wife Carrie Jean Gilliam, sister Betty Joyce Shields (of Houston), brother Jessie Gilliam (of Chicago), children Gloria Gilliam Scott (and husband Arthur), Ella Pearl Gilliam, Bernita Milanes, Alfred Gilliam, Sumner Jackson, Marcus Gilliam, Donna Joyce Gilliam, Cedric Gilliam, Mildred Roaches and Thomas Gilliam and numerous relatives. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 29th at noon with a viewing at 10am, Carl Barnes Funeral Home, 746 West 22nd Ave., Houston, TX 77008.
