Edward Leslie Burwell, age 74, died at The Woodlands, TX on Sunday, September 28, 2014. He passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home, having just returned from an enjoyable trip with his wife of 50 years.

Born September 12, 1940 in New Rochelle, NY, he resided in The Woodlands, TX. Ed was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in The Woodlands and a member of the Adult Choir there. He was employed by ExxonMobil in Government Relations and Public Affairs for 34 years, until retiring in 2000.

After graduating in 1962 from St. Bonaventure University, in Olean, NY, Ed served in the United States Army, 1st Cavalry Division, in Korea, eventually attaining the rank of Captain.

Survivors include his wife, Helen P. Burwell of The Woodlands, TX; daughters Mary Burwell Knight and husband David, of Houston, TX; Kathryn Burwell Fives and husband Louis, of Las Vegas, NV; Isabel Burwell Pfister and husband Robert, of Gardnerville, NV; and son, Edward C. Burwell and wife Tracey, of Houston, TX. He is also survived by his sister, Isabel Burwell Irvine of Key West, FL, as well as 13 grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Edward C. Burwell and Mary Cotter Burwell of Long Beach Island, NJ.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 1, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Klein Funeral Home, 14711 FM 1488 Rd., Magnolia, TX 77354, with a Rosary service at 7 p.m.

A Mass will be celebrated in memory of Ed at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church on Thursday, October 2, 2014 at 11:00 a.m., followed by a luncheon and procession to the Houston National Cemetery located at 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038.
