The Guest Book is expired.

Eleanor Herold Vallhonrat was born on March 22, 1941 in Shreveport, Louisiana and passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on October 15, 2015 in The Woodlands, Texas, after a four-and-a half-year battle with ovarian cancer.

Eleanor attended Tulane University, where she met her husband Juan. She and Juan married in 1961 and went on to graduate from the University of Houston. In 1981, Eleanor received her Masters in Accounting from the University of Houston and later earned her CPA designation. She used this knowledge to assume management of her family's Louisiana properties and business. She brought new and innovative approaches to this enterprise, which have created meaningful and long lasting improvements.

Eleanor was a strong supporter of the arts and a founding member of her book club, which began in the early nineteen seventies and continues today. She was an enthusiastic traveler and enjoyed exploring interesting places around the world with friends and family. She had a passion for helping others and spent countless hours volunteering for causes that were important to her. She was a member of St. James the Apostle Episcopal Church in Conroe, Texas and was a dedicated servant. She was a generous and devoted wife, mother, sister and friend who took care of everyone and always put others before herself.

Eleanor is predeceased by her husband Juan, and is survived by her brother Sidney Herold of Shreveport, Louisiana; her sister Anne Winks of San Francisco, California; as well as by her children, Paul Vallhonrat and his wife Janna, of Colleyville, Texas; by her son, Charles Vallhonrat and his wife, Susan, of Cypress, Texas, and their children, Charles Jr. and Andrew; and by her daughter, Anne Bruner and her husband, David, of Houston, Texas, and their daughter Ashley.

The family would like to offer a heartfelt thank you to the numerous caregivers from LivHome, in particular Gwen Mayes, who provided comfort and support to Eleanor and the family in her final days. They again want to especially thank Martina Villalba, their angel.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on October 20, 2015, at St. James the Apostle Episcopal Church, 1803 Highland Hollow Drive, Conroe, Texas 77304. Burial services will be at 2:00 p.m. on October 21, 2015, at Forest Park Cemetery in Shreveport, Louisiana.

In lieu of customary remembrances, contributions in Eleanor's memory may be directed to St. James Church.
