Esther C. Cannon, 86, passed away January 3, 2012 in Conroe, Texas. She was born November 12, 1925 in Eastland, Texas to the late Silas Carter and Julia Dwyer. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Melvin Cannon, brother, J.D. Carter and sister, Imogene Jernigan. Esther belonged to the American Legion Ladies Auxillary and had a special place in her heart for volunteer work. She was best known for making wheelchair lap robes for the veterans at the veterans hospital and for collecting coupons from all of her neighbors to send to military men and women overseas. She loved playing bingo and spending time with her family and friends. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, daughters, Edna Steddum and husband Jim, Donna Dean and husband Charles; son, Gene Cannon and wife Suzi; brother, S.E. Carter and wife Melba; sisters, Winnie Rainey, Lucille Johnson; 8 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren and a host of other loving family members and friends. A service honoring Esther's life will be held on Friday, January 6, 2012 at 10:30 AM in the Chapel of Grand View Funeral Home, 8501 Spencer Highway, Pasadena, TX.
