Gene Glash was born in Pennsylvania Feb. 6, 1925. He grew up in the hills of West Virginia where he earned a football scholarship for college but was sidetracked with his service in the Merchant Marines during World War II. After the war he settled in Houston where he spent the rest of his years dedicated to his family and loved ones. He left us with a legacy of an exemplary life filled with unconditional love for God and others. He was a superb athlete, a hard worker, a lover, a fighter and an amazing father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. His words of wisdom and dry sense of humor will be missed in our lives. Gene fell in love with his wife, Sybil Blevins, when he was twelve years old. They were together almost 70 years and gave us one of the world's greatest love stories. She went to Heaven 3 years ago and he has longed to join her ever since that day. He is also preceded in death by his parents, Mickey Glash and Rose Haltom; sons, Larry and John Kyle Glash; and granddaughter, Whitney Whitelock. Gene left behind a loving family who adored him: his son, Ron Glash, & wife, Denise; his daughter, Rosie Whitelock, and husband, David; his daughter-in-law, Cathy Glash Pierce, sister Mary Lee Drozd, and husband Edwin; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren who were proud to call him Grandad.

Services for Gene will be on Saturday Feb. 22 with a graveside burial at 12:30 p.m. at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery followed by a celebration of Gene's life at 2:00 p.m. at Southwest Presbyterian Church 6033 South Rice Avenue, Bellaire TX 77401.

Honorary pallbearers are Randall Glash, Stephen Glash, Jeremy Whitelock, Andy Whitelock, Jenny Whitelock, Tiffany Pothier, Woody Isenhart and Steve Blevins.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to: Whitelock Ministries at 143 April Point Place Montgomery TX 77356.
