Evelyn Pratt Blazek, born on March 29, 1919, passed away on November 1, 2012 at the age of 93.

Evelyn is survived by her son Truman Joseph Blazek Sr. and his wife Betty, daughter-in-law Geri Blazek, sister Katherine Pitts, four grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Eugene Gilbert Blazek Sr., and her son Eugene Gilbert Blazek Jr.

Evelyn will be most remembered for the creation of the Sacred Garden of Texas, located in New Waverly, TX which began in 1968 by Evelyn and her husband Gene. They spent endless hours creating the Sacred Gardens which included the largest statue of Christ of East Texas and 65 religions grottos. The dedication by the Bishop of the Diocese of Galveston-Houston was held in 1972.

Visitation with the family will be held Tuesday, November 6 from 6-8 PM at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Willis. Services will be at St. Joseph Catholic Church in New Waverly, TX on Wednesday, November 7 at 11 AM with burial at 2:30 PM at Forest Park Lawndale in Houston, TX.

Pallbearers will include Michael Blazek, Timothy Blazek, Joey Blazek, Rick Pitts, Greg Pitts, Mack Pitts, and honorary pallbearer Tim Scates.
