Ewing Mason Martin was born August 31, 1915 in Alvin, Texas. He died June 18, 2015 at his home in Willis, Texas, at the age of 99 years, 9 months, 24 days. He graduated from Bay City High School with honors in 1935. He attended Citizen's Military Training Camp, Camp Bullis, San Antonio, Texas for one month each summer from 1934-1936 with the rank of Sergeant.

Ewing came to Conroe, Texas on March 8, 1938 and married Odalee Griffith on August 26, 1939. Two children were born to this union: daughter, Sarah Ann Martin, born May 13, 1940 and died June 24, 2015; son, Judge Mason Martin II of Conroe, wife, Vanessa, and grandson, Ryan Simpson.

Ewing is survived by three grandchildren, Sarah Martin Bemrick and husband Joe of Flower Mound, Texas, Ewing Mason Martin III and wife Flora of Middlebury, Indiana, and Katherine Elaine "Katie" Martin of Houston; two great grandchildren, Alexandria Martin and Mason T. Martin of Middlebury, Indiana; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Ewing was employed by George Strake, McAlister Fuel, B.M. Hester & Son and Exxon companies. He retired from Exxon on January 31, 1985 after 47 years in the Conroe Oil Field. He was a faithful member of the Conroe Church of Christ serving in many ways including Bible Class Teacher and deacon. In 1961, he began a ministry as a lay preacher serving Churches of Christ in Willis, Oklahoma Community, New Waverly and Grangerland totaling 27 years. Ewing's last sermon was preached on August 30, 2009, one day before his 94th birthday. Pallbearers are Harry Dehtan, David Dehtan, Joe Lynch, Ewing Mason Martin III, Henry Steiz and Billy Vick. Honorary Pallbearers are the baseball players of Ewing Martin's Little League Teams from 1956-1968.

Visitation will be held Sunday, June 28, 2015 from 5:00 - 8:00 pm, at Metcalf Funeral Home, located at 1801 E White Oak Terrace, Conroe, TX 77304. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 29, 2015 at 10:00 am, located at Conroe Church of Christ, 1860 Longmire Road Conroe, Texas 77304.
