Gary Allen Estes, 66, passed away on June 19, 2014at Conroe Regional Medical Center in Conroe, Texas. He was born on November 24, 1947 in Reno, Nevada to George (Bing) and Marie Estes. Gary grew up in Imperial Beach, California. He graduated from Mar Vista High School in Imperial Beach, California in 1966. After high school he attended College at Southwestern College in Chula Vista, California where a short time later he landed a job in the Border Patrol. Gary worked for the Border Patrol for almost 30 years until he received a promotion within the Department of Homeland Security / ICE Division as a Senior Special Agent (Criminal Investigator) where he worked for another 4 years. Gary retired in 2004 with over 34 years of service. Gary was a voracious reader of crime novels and loved a good crossword puzzle. He was an avid golfer and in later years he started traveling abroad which he very much enjoyed. To the people who knew Gary best, he was a very generous person and enjoyed helping and listening to others. Gary is survived by his daughter, Kari Estes of San Diego, California and step-son, Jared Bodecker of Fort Collins, Colorado. Gary was preceded in death by both parents Bing & Marie Estes, and brother Lee Estes. A memorial will be held at Gary's home at a later date.
