Passed away at the age of 75 on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 @ 9:55 AM at home in Willis, Texas in the company of his wife, daughter-in-law and hospice nurse. George was born in Seattle, Washington on April 1, 1939 to Priscilla Scharf and Eino Salo. He was the older brother of Joseph Victor Salo and his half-sister, Elizabeth Scott. While serving a term in the Air Force as a police officer, George was introduced to Dorothy Smith by his aunt Rene in Deer Lodge, Montana. They later married in St. Ignatius, Montana on June 11, 1961 in the first Methodist Church. With his experience as a police officer, he began working as the Lieutenant of Police for the Milwaukee Railroad 15 years. Later, he opened a gas station in Butte, Montana. Dorothy and George welcomed two sons, Raymond and Mike. They spent as much of their time traveling as possible to places such as Spain, Africa, England, Ireland, Scotland, Australia, New Zealand, Bonnaire, Germany, Canada, Mexico, and all 50 US States. George was an avid reader as well as an accomplished swimmer and scuba diver. In 1986, George and Dorothy moved to Houston, Texas to enjoy warmer weather. On June 11, 2014 they celebrated 53 years of marriage.

George is survived by his wife, Dorothy, sons Raymond (Karen) and Mike (Tammy), and brother-in-laws Gilbert Smith (Christi) and Donald Smith. Preceded in death by his mother, Priscilla Scharf, his father Eino Salo, and brother Joe Salo.

The memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 16, 2015 at The Ark Church in Conroe, Texas.
