Funeral services for George R. Spoon of Conroe, Texas will be held on Monday, October 22, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. in The Chapel at Conroe Funeral Directors with Pastor's Bill Fehmer and Pastor Wes Pratt officiating. Interment will follow in Conroe Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service. George was born on September 29, 1938 in Reno, Nevada and passed away on October 18, 2012 in Conroe, TX after being in a coma for 5 weeks. He was 74 years old. George was preceded in death by his parents, Eli and Arvilla Spoon and by his sister, Lenora Kanzeg. George is survived by his loving family; wife of 49 years, Frances of Conroe; two sons, Eli Spoon and wife, Kat of Odessa, MO and Jason Spoon and fiancé, Melissa Smilie of Montgomery, TX; grandchildren, Jacob Spoon of Valley City, ND, Rebecca and Zoe Spoon of Odessa, MO and Brandi Ell and Dillon Ell of The Woodlands, TX; and brother, Ron Smith and wife, Bettye of Las Vegas, NV. Numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends also survive.

George was retired from Operating Engineers, Local 450 in Houston, TX. He was currently employed by Kroger for the past 10 years. George was also a longtime member of the Houston Restoration Church and proudly served his country in the Navy. He was a loving and kind husband, brother, father and grandfather who was greatly loved and will be dearly missed. John 14
