Gertrude Christine Lassiter, 80, of Conroe died August 20, 2017.She was born in Rio Hondo, TX, the youngest of five siblings, to Bruno and Matie(West) Sitz. She was educated in Rio Hondo public schools and went on to become a registered nurse by graduating from Lilly Jolly Nursing School, class of 1958, in Houston, TX.

In 1962 she married Tom Lassiter at Feeser Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi. They have two sons, Todd and David.

Trudie was a loving wife and mother and together, she and Tom raised their sons in Houston. She put family first and was always there to lend a helping hand and a kind word. Later in life, she went back to work for the Harris County Sherriff's Office as a regisered nurse. She retired after 10 years and moved to Conroe with Tom. Wherever she was, she became a vibrant member of the church and community. In Conroe, she was a beloved member of the Garden Club of River Plantation, The Newcomer's Club of Conroe, First United Methodist Church, and continued her lifelong love of playing bridge in various groups and clubs.

She leaves behind her sons Todd and David, her brothers Tommy Longbrake of Kyle, Tx and David Sitz of Bay City, TX, and their wives Mary and Marilyn. She will also be missed by numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. She was predeceased by her husband Tom and her sisters Nancy Ryerson and Patty Dixon.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 26, 2017 at 11:00am at First United Methodist Church in Conroe, TX with Pastor Mary Tumulty presiding. In lieu of flowers, a gift can be made to Texas Children's Hospital of Houston, Tx.
