The Guest Book is expired.

At age 48, we lost our beloved Greg due to a heart attack. He was born in Charleston, SC, graduated school in Newport, TN, and afterwards served his country in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Nassau.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Spires, and brother, Rodney Spires of Greer, SC. Surviving are his mother, Margie Marchant of Willis, TX; sister Regina Ehlers of Omaha, NE; brothers Ric Spires of Amarillo, TX and Michael Spires of Nebraska; aunts and uncles Bertie and Dewey Williams of Fletcher, NC, Bonnie and Jerome Conelly of Vance, SC, Janelle and Edward Reifsnyder of Fort Collins, CO, Herbert Marchant of Dellwood, FL, Wayne and Brenda Marchant of Savannah, GA; nieces Ashley Park of Omaha, NE, Travis Ehlers of Omaha, NE, Michl Spires of Greer, SC, Taylor Spires of Omaha, NE, and Melissa Smith. Also surviving are beloved ex-wife and dear-dear friend Katrina Spires of Willis, TX; daughters Dawn Pollard and husband Steve of Eugene, OR, and Jessica Alaniz and husband Charles Jr. of Porter, TX; eleven grandchildren: Bryce Brown, Jaxen Bendele, Connor Bendele, Olivia Pollard, Scott Pollard, Austin Pollard, Colin Pollard, Damien Alaniz, Annabelle Alaniz, Hazel Alaniz, and most importantly granddaughter Tuesday Leonard of Willis, TX with whom Greg and Katrina shared joint guardianship. She will in all likelihood miss her beloved "Pa" most of all; also, too many other relatives and friends to begin to mention.

There will be no formal service, but an informal drop in on January 5, 2013 at 307 Hill St, Willis, TX starting at 3 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Greg's favorite charity, Montgomery County Animal Shelter. Condolences may be left at the website of Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Willis at www.shmfh.com.
