Guadalupe "Lupe" Barreiro, 84, went to be with the Lord and to join her daughter, Gloria Barreiro Garza on Thursday, April 5, 2012. She was born March 4, 1928 in Mercedes, Texas.

Lupe attended McAllen High School and furthered her education at McAllen Business College. Lupe worked side by side with her husband, Zack at their leather goods business, Pharr Shoe Repair and Western Wear. She worked with Special Needs children at McAllen ISD. After retiring, Mom had a passion for selling her silver jewelry at local craft shows.

Lupe was preceded in death by her daughter, Gloria and her husband Zack Barreiro. She was the glue that kept her family together through the toughest time of their lives, the loss of their daughter/sister. Lupe leaves behind to cherish her many wonderful memories her daughter, Irene (Tito) Guajardo, sons Ruben (Flavia), Abel, Daniel and Noel and always by her side her granddaughter Sylvia and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and many friends and relatives.

Lupe lived life to the fullest, if there was a word to describe her it would be "funny." She was giving, quick witted and had a fabulous sense of humor and will be sorely missed by her family and friends and her two companions, Tiger and Max.
