Funeral services for Gussie Gill Shew, age 90, of Conroe will be held on Thursday, November 10, 2011 at 3 p.m. in Cashner Colonial Chapel with the family receiving friends one hour prior to the service. Entombment will follow in Garden Park Cemetery.

Gussie was born August 20, 1921 in Oberlin, Louisiana and succumbed to her lengthy illness on November 6, 2011 and went to be with her Lord and Savior. She was preceded in death by Kenneth, her husband of 53 years, her mother, father and eleven (11) siblings. She is succeeded by her three children, Kenneth Shew Jr., Evelyn and husband Steve Richter and Susan McCallister; four grandchildren, Ralynn and husband Jerry Frost, Danalea and husband Larry Beaulieu, Brandon and wife Andrea Richter, Matt and wife Morgan Richter; seven great grandchildren, Denet and husband Toby Martin, Breanna and husband Phillip Campbell, Ronnie Frost, Matthias Frost, Patricia Frost, Mary Frost and Rose Frost; and three great great granddaughters, Sarah Martin, Eleanor Martin and Annalise Campbell; two sisters-in-law, Betty Merwin and Alice Shew; and many other nephews, nieces and cousins. Gussie worked as a chemist at City Service in Lake Charles, Louisiana during WWII and as a professional dress maker from the time she and Ken married until she retired. She was a life time member of the Eastern Star. She and Ken were members of the Terry Travel Club and of Good Sam. She will be greatly missed by family and friends all over the United States. In lieu of flowers, consider a donation in her name to Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, 2405 Old Highway 105 West, Conroe, TX 77304 where she attended the past 30 years.
