H. Mack "PawPaw" Kennedy

The Guest Book is expired.

Mack Kennedy, age 80 of Conroe, went to be with Jesus in heaven on the morning of Monday, June 26, 2017. Mack was born in Odessa, TX. November 27, 1936, to Henry and Willie Kennedy. He was married to the first love of his life DeAnna Cook of Ingleside for 30 years until her death in 1985. Mack was blessed and found love again and married Pat Spencer in 1994. They have resided in Conroe since that time. Mack took great pride in his family, being a native Texan, an Ingleside Mustang, a Rice Owl and a Conroe Tiger supporter. He was the proud father of a Conroe High School varsity player for 10 consecutive years and along with his wife DeAnna was honored with the Conroe Tiger Booster Lifetime award. He continued his sideline cheering together with wife Pat at many grandchildren's sporting events. After playing on a 1957 SWC championship football team at Rice University, Mack joined his high school coach and mentor Emory Bellard as a coach and teacher in San Angelo. He worked in medical sales for the next 30 years and finished up his career coaching his grandson's baseball and basketball teams at a local high school. Mack was the ultimate competitor, a lifelong coach, an avid golfer, a licensed golf instructor and clubmaker who played the game until his health began to fail.

Mack is preceded in death by his parents, brother Percy and first wife DeAnna. He is survived by Pat, his loving wife of 23 years, a sister Sarah White (Larry) of Irving and a sister-in-law, Dixie Kennedy of Kerrville. Also surviving are four sons, Kerry Kennedy (Cathy) of Cypress, Kyle Kennedy (Janis) of Lake Jackson, Kevin Kennedy (Sheri) of Montgomery and Kreg Kennedy of Lampasas. In addition, he is survived by stepson, Scott Spencer (Kristin) of Franklin, Tn. PawPaw, as he was affectionately called, is survived by grandchildren, Lauren Carter (Nick), Ben Kennedy, Ryan Kennedy, Aubrey Laws (Brad), Tyler Kennedy (Carlee), DeAnna Lavery (Bryan), Luke Kennedy, Brianna Kennedy, Cooper Kennedy, Parker Spencer, Kanon Kennedy, Kian Kennedy, and Campbell Spencer, as well as great-grandchildren, McKray Laws, Landry Carter, Keeva Laws, Everett Carter, Eila Laws and Maeve Laws, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of a life well lived will be held at Cashner Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at 3:00pm with Pastor Dave Schneider officiating. Visitation will begin at 1:00pm prior to service. Interment will be at Garden Park Cemetery following service. Serving as pallbearers will be his seven grandsons.
