San Antonio - Harold Eugene Purdom, 87, passed away October 14, 2011. He was born August 4, 1924, in Paragould, Arkansas to Charles Leroy Purdom and Clara Mae Puckett Purdom. Harold grew up in Paragould and graduated from Paragould High School. He entered the service in 1945 and was stationed in Europe for two years. After his discharge, he finished college at Abilene Christian College (now ACU) with a degree in Chemistry. He began working in the Oil and Gas industry in Odessa and Midland and retired as executive vice president of Big Three Industries in Houston. On December 4, 1948, Harold married Mary Elizabeth (Beth) Patteson. They celebrated sixty-two years of marriage, having lived in Odessa, Houston and Panorama Village, Texas. Beth preceded him in death July 1, 2011.

Survivors include: sons Charles L. Purdom and wife Sherry of Hurst, Lawrence E. Purdom of Katy, Harry E. Purdom and wife Pam of Richardson; five granddaughters; two grandsons; one great-grandson; brother Cloyce L. Purdom and wife Imogene of Jacksonville, Florida. A brief graveside service will be held at Bundick Cemetery in Smiley, Texas at 10:00am, on Saturday, October 22, 2011. It was Harold's wish that in lieu of flowers, take a friend to dinner or enjoy a round of golf.
