Hazel Parchman Coulson born, January 21, 1920, passed away November 2, 2013. Her husband Judge Edward D. Coulson, parents Roy and Dovie Mattingly Parchman, and brother J.D. preceded her in death. Born and reared in Mt. Vernon, Texas, she received a BS degree from East Texas State University at Commerce, Texas and a Master's Degree in Education from the University of Houston. Early in her career she served as an A&M Extension Service Agent in Hudspeth and Austin counties. It was during this time that she learned how to fly and owned an interest in a small plane, the Culver. Because of her love of children and teaching, she dedicated 39 years in the field of Education with 33 years in HISD. The last seven years were spent as principal of Samuel C. Red Elementary School. She was a long time member of Delta Kappa Gamma, a society for women educators. She was also one of the founders of SMART which is the South Montgomery Association of Retired Teachers. She was an active member of Christ Church United Methodist in the Woodlands, Texas. Her immediate survivors are sister-in-law Sarah Parchman, nephews David and Coy Van Parchman, step-daughter Lois Coulson-Davis, and step-grandsons John and James Ainsworth, step-nephews Michael Coulson and Patrick Coulson, and numerous other relatives of the second, third and forth generations. She had many friends and special friends Christine Tucker, Carol Carter, Cydney Pearce and Wendy Ray.

A celebration of life will be held at Christ Church United Methodist, 6363 Research Forest Drive, The Woodlands, Texas 77381, Phone 936-273-2030, on Saturday, November 9, 2013. Visitation will be at 9:00 AM, The Service at 11:00 AM, and the Reception immediately following the Service. Burial will be at 1:30 PM at Forest Park of The Woodlands, 18000 Interstate 45, The Woodlands, Texas 77384, Phone 936-273-4922.

Donations can be made in honor of Hazel's memory to Christ Church United Methodist of The Woodlands, 6363 Research Forest Drive, the Woodlands, Texas 77381.
