age 32, of Conroe, fought a great fight with her diabetes, but passed away on Wednesday, November 28, 2012, and went home to be with the Lord. She was born to the late Jerry Don "Pookie" Gates and Martha Gates on April 7, 1980.

Heather attended Conroe High School, where she was a member and leader of the fabulous Golden Girls. "GG's". She had a love for dancing from day one in her life. From her little tap shoes as a young girl, to dancing in the middle of the football fields making everyone's heart skip a beat, her love was shown through her dancing. She volunteered for many local community organizations, helping others as she would want them to help her. She followed the Golden Rule.

Heather recently became a part of a local community group called MoCo Angels that assists families and children in need. Where there was a need, Heather found a way to bring a smile to someone else's face. She loved and enjoyed helping others with her kind, loving heart. She never met a stranger. If she didn't know you, by the end of your conversation, you would have met a new friend.

Family and friends were Heather's love and joy. She enjoyed her time with her precious niece and nephew. She had a special love for children that shined through when she was around them. Many describe Heather as a generous lady and an encouraging friend. She always had that will to keep on fighting.

Heather worked as a caregiver, where she was able to spread her love and blessings to others that were in need of assistance. She believed that God gives everyone a purpose in life, and her purpose was to assist others. As you can tell, she succeeded.

Heather is survived by her mother, Martha K. Gates; brother, Chris Gates; step brother, Jerry Don Howard; nephew, Dylan Todd Gates; niece, Marley Mae Gates; aunt, Peggy and husband Bill Milton; uncle, Gary and wife Aubrey Gates; uncle, Bobby Catchings; and numerous cousins. She also leaves behind numerous caring relatives and friends. She touched many lives and has shared many precious memories with all. Please cherish and remember those memories.

A Celebration of Heather's Life will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, December 1, 2012 at Mims Baptist Church, 1609 Porter Rd, Conroe, TX 77301. Heather's wishes were to be a LifeGift organ donor, and to continue sharing life with others. The family wishes to thank all of those who cared and supported through her fight, especially the hands of the doctors, nurses, and staff at the hospitals. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations may be made to Heather Gates Fund at Woodforest National Bank or The in memory of Heather Gates.
