H.W. "Kix" Lamp, Jr, 94, went to be with his Lord Thursday, February 15th 2018. The seventh of nine children, Kix was born at "Lamp's Camp"—a logging camp named after his father (the foreman) in what is now the Sam Houston National Forest. In 1943, he and 61 classmates graduated from Conroe High School where Kix was the class president. After serving in the Army Air Corps for three years during World War II, he married Bobbie Jo Ralston. He taught in Conroe ISD for 22 years and was the principal of Anderson Elementary for 11 years before retiring in 1989. Kix was a long-time member of the Conroe Friendly City Kiwanis Club and served as an elder at Conroe Church of Christ for 43 years. Known as "Papa" by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Kix leaves a strong legacy as a loving patriarch and faithful servant of the Lord. He enriched the life of all who knew him and he will be greatly missed. Kix is survived by Bobbie Jo, his loving wife of 64 years, their daughter Dianne Lamp and David Burgess, son Mark Lamp and wife, Janet, son Paul Lamp and wife, Leah, granddaughter Sarah German and husband James, grandsons Travis Lamp, Andrew Lamp, Samuel Lamp, and Joseph Lamp, and granddaughter Toria Lamp. He is also survived by great-granddaughters, Elizabeth, Adalin and Kaydence German, sister Betty Worthen and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at Conroe Church of Christ, 1860 Longmire Road, on Wednesday, February 21st at 1 pm. with graveside service to follow at Ebenezer Cemetery in Huntsville. Pallbearers will be "the Saturday morning breakfast bunch," Shelby Ralston, A.J. Purswell, Mark Lamp, Paul Lamp, Travis Lamp, Andrew Lamp, Samuel Lamp, Joseph Lamp, Heath Nichols and Paul Magliolo. Visitation will be Tuesday night at the church from 5 to 7 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Conroe Church of Christ building fund or the Montgomery County Association of Retired School Personnel scholarship fund.
