Born in Karlsruhe, Germany in 1933, Irmgard (Gigi) Beyeler was accompanied by angels when she passed away on January 19, 2015 in The Woodlands, TX. She is now reunited with her parents, siblings and other family members that were torn from her during World War II in Germany. Homeless and lost after a bombing raid, she was raised by nuns in an orphanage and was charged with overseeing the babies and small children. Her tender and protective love for them followed her through life as reflected by her future compassion, innocence and appreciation for all things good. After the war, she married Gordon Childs, an American serviceman, and immigrated to the US, settling in Salt Lake City, Utah. The marriage ended in divorce years later. She found the love of her life and married Michael L. Beyeler in 1977. Their life together produced one child, Dante Beyeler, and 38 years of joy and happiness. Gigi was a fantastic cook, housekeeper, decorator, gardener and helpmate. She was loving and generous to everyone despite the devastation of war and a lost childhood. She was our best friend, our sunshine. We will miss her dearly. She is survived by her children: Dante Beyeler (Lauren), The Woodlands, TX; Marty Childs (Regina), Eugene, OR; Connie Blake, Cedar City, UT; Charmaine Childs, Murray, UT; Barry Childs, Herriman, UT; and Monette Childs (Shawn), Alpine, UT. The family would like to express gratitude to Heart to Heart Hospice for their gentle care and assistance in Gigi's time of need. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, January 27th at 11:00am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints located at 10303 Branch Crossing Drive, The Woodlands, TX, 77382. A similar service for close family will be held in Salt Lake City, UT in the springtime. In lieu of flowers, friends are encouraged to donate to their local .
