James Carlton Barrow, age 68, passed away Tuesday, November 11, 2014. He was born February 2, 1946 in St. Louis, Missouri to Carlton W. Barrow and Esther L. Barrow who preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Katherine Bradley Barrow of Conroe; his daughters Jill Michelle Barrow of Houston, Texas and Tammy Barrow Gibson and husband Kris of Little Elm, Texas; and granddaughters Kaylee Lynn Gibson and Kara Grace Gibson (soon to be born). He also leaves behind his brother, Charles Allen Barrow and wife Faye of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and numerous nieces and nephews.

James served 4 years in the Air Force and returned to Lamar University in 1970 to complete his degree. It was there that he met his wife, Kathy, and they married in 1972.

Retired after 30 plus years with 3M company, he thoroughly enjoyed his retirement years pursuing his many hobbies. An amateur radio operator since the age of 15, he enjoyed many hours of "over the air" talk with hams from all over the world, and he cherished his weekly schedule with long time friends Joe Christian, Eldorado, Texas and Alex Papoutsas, San Angelo, Texas.

He enjoyed travels with his RV, wood working and furniture building, time spent with family and friends, and water sports and boating.

The family wishes to thank all of his doctors at M D Anderson for their care and expertise during his battle with cancer. Special thanks go to the staff at The M D Anderson Palliative Care unit for their compassionate and professional care during his last days.
